Chow Rescue

Chow Rescue was founded in the 1970's by Mrs. Joan Bennett and The Chow Chow Club. This organisation was created in order to re-home unwanted and needy Chows. During these early years registrations were in the region of 1,500 annually and if one wanted to obtain a chow it was reasonably easy to do so. Thankfully our breed has never become prolific in this country and we do not have a major housing problem, but the need continues.

Approximately 45-50 Chows need re-homing annually. The reasons for re-homing are very varied, and sometimes quite unbelievable. Each dog's details are recorded and providing they are not of an untrustworthy disposition Chow Rescue do there best to find a suitable home.

When re-homing a Chow, a request for a donation is usually made in order to continue the good word, aiding needy Chows. This request is wavered when the recipient is faced with a lot of expenses in obtaining the Chow or with immediately high veterinary charges.

The prime aim of Chow Rescue is to find loving homes for Chows. The problem is not in the finding of homes for young dogs or puppies but in finding homes for the older Chows, this is where help is needed the most.

For further information please contact Mrs. SHEILA JAKEMAN on telephone number (01608) 658 491.

Also, please let her know that you found out about Chow Rescue at the Yokohama Chow Chow website, this will enable me to know that I may have helped some Chows to find a loving home and to assess how many I may of helped.

Good Luck
